The Poisk is a light and manoeuvrable hull. It's well-suited for the creation of different intelligence service ships. It can be used as an attack vessel as part of a larger fleet. In-Game Description
Overview & Strategy
The Poisk Corvette is a difficult ship to design around. The module layout deliberately forces the player to make decisions about what they intend to do with it, as with only six Small General slots (one of which is for specialist Corvette Modules), there simply is not enough free space for everything the player might like to fit into it. Depending on configuration, it may be necessary to build an unarmed ship, thus freeing up space that would otherwise be occupied by a Generator or Ordnance module.
Some possible configurations might be:
- A fleet cloak ship, with a Cloaking Module and lots of fuel. Such a ship would also be suitable as a stealthy long-range scout.
- A minesweeper, with a Minesweeper Module, no shields but lots of added armour (just in case).
- An electronic warfare ship mounting a Cloak Detector module, in order to spot cloaked ships. Depending on the player's Technology level, another ship with a Mine Detector could also be added.
As Corvettes can mount Assault Troop Carriers, it is possible to make a light raider that could in theory be cloaked. Such a ship would need to be part of a fleet of four to stand a chance of effectively taking away some resources in decent quantities, but it makes an interesting option for the otherwise low-powered Poisk.
Despite its description, the Poisk is a poor choice for front-line combat; with only two Small weapon slots and a hull strength of 280, the Poisk is likely to lose in any significant straight fight. People's Realm players seeking a light attack option should instead look to the Death Warrant, which is cheaper and much faster to build, and has both greater base HP and equipment capacity.
