Alliances

From Outscape Wiki

Players can join together to form alliances which expand on the one-to-one treaties players can form with other players.

  • Alliances exist on a per-galaxy basis
  • Each alliance can have up to 50 members for now - but a player can only be a member of one alliance at a time
  • Members can be assigned different roles and permissions
  • Non-aggression pact treaties automatically exist between all alliance members
  • Each alliance has its own private chat room for its members
  • The alliance's tag is displayed next to alliance member's names and fleet names in the game
  • There will be dedicated leaderboards for alliances (alliance leaderboards weren't included in the first version)

Please note: alliances were only recently added to the game on June 28th and more features are planned. This page will be updated as additional alliance features are added.

Managing

Alliances 1.jpg

The alliance page can be found on the diplomacy window that is opened from the main menu. This window is mostly empty until you belong to an alliance.

Create

  • Anyone that doesn't belong to an alliance can create an alliance (if you already belong to an alliance you'll need to leave it before you can create one)
  • The alliance creation form is opened from the alliance page
  • Alliances have a name, tag, slogan, and optional web links for an alliance website and Discord channel
  • The slogan and web links are visible to alliance members only (from the main alliance page)
  • As the creator of the alliance you automatically get the Leader role

Members

Alliances 2.jpg

  • All members of the alliance are listed on the alliance page and visible to all other alliance members
  • Each member can set their own status which is displayed on their row on the alliance page (it's also automatically posted to the alliance chat)
  • The alliance Leader will also be able to set the role of any alliance member or kick them out of the alliance

Invite

Alliances 3.jpg

  • A player can only join an alliance by being invited by the Leader or Consul
  • An invitation can be sent to a player via the proposals tab on the diplomacy window
  • An alliance Leader or Consul will have an additional 'ALLIANCE' treaty type option they can select (other players will only see the 'NON-AGGRESSION' treaty type option)
  • After an alliance proposal has been sent the recipient will be able to accept or reject the proposal (if a player already belongs to an alliance they must leave it before they can accept a proposal to join another)

Kick out

  • The alliance Leader and Consul have the option to 'Kick out' any alliance member from the main alliance page
  • The effect is immediate and the same as when a player leaves the alliance themselves
  • If the kicked out player had any treaties with any of the players in the alliance before they joined the alliance those treaties are automatically reinstated (they can then be cancelled)

Set role

The alliance Leader can change the role of any alliance member.

Disband

  • An alliance can't be disbanded (deleted) manually
  • An alliance is automatically disbanded only when the last Member leaves (any member can choose to leave an alliance at any time, or is automatically removed if they leave the game)

Joining and leaving

  • Joining: the only way to join an alliance is to be invited by an alliance Leader or Consul
  • Leaving: any alliance member - including the Leader and Consul - can leave the alliance at any time (the leave button is on the main alliance page - for the leader it will remain inactive until they reassign the leader role to another member). The effect is instant and there is no cooldown. Access to all alliance permissions and benefits is instantly removed. If the Leader leaves the galaxy the Consul automatically becomes the Leader (if there is no Consul the oldest Member becomes the Leader). When the last player leaves an alliance the alliance is disbanded (deleted). After leaving an alliance a player can immediately re-join the alliance or join another

Roles and permissions

An alliance can have one Leader and one Consul but multiple Members. The Consul role is optional. The permissions of each role are as follows:

Member

  • Alliance benefits
  • Can leave the alliance

Consul

  • All Member permissions, plus:
  • Manage members (invite, remove)

Leader

  • All Member and Consul permissions, plus:
  • Edit the alliance details
  • Transfer the Leader role to another Member
  • Assign the Consul role

If the Leader leaves the galaxy the Consul automatically becomes the Leader (if there is no Consul the oldest Member becomes the Leader). When the last player leaves an alliance the alliance is disbanded (deleted).

Alliance benefits

  • Non-aggression pact treaties exist automatically between all alliance members
  • Private alliance chat room only accessible to members of the alliance
  • The alliance's tag is displayed next to alliance member's names
  • Each alliance participates on the leaderboards

Non-aggression pact (NAP)

  • Non-aggression pact treaties exist automatically between all alliance members
  • They are not listed on the treaties tab as individual treaties
  • If a treaty was in place between two players before they joined the alliance, it also isn't listed, but will be automatically reinstated and visible again if either player leaves the alliance (either player can then cancel it)

Alliance chat

  • The private alliance chat is accessed from the main chat window in the bottom left of the screen
  • As well as messages from other members, automatic updates are posted e.g. a new member joins, leaves, changes their status

Roadmap

  • Custom alliance logos
  • Additional roles
  • Shared visibility
