Guard Fleet Control

From Outscape Wiki

Use guard fleet control buildings and guard fleets to automatically defend parts of your territory - whether you're online or offline.

  • Build a guard fleet control on a colony to establish a guard zone around that star system (3LY radius)
  • You can then order your fleets to guard that zone (fleet must be in the zone first)
  • Enemy fleets entering a guard zone are automatically pursued and attacked by your fleets guarding that zone (excluding pirates)
  • You cannot build a guard fleet control on a colony if another guard fleet control is closer than 1LY
  • Guard fleet control buildings support a limited number of fleets (see stats below). Upgrade them to increase the number of fleets they can support.

Note: guard fleet control buildings have only been added for the ATD galaxy while we continue to test and balance this feature.

Guard zones

Guard Fleet Guard Zone.jpg

  • Guard zones are automatically established around star systems that have a guard fleet control constructed on one of the colonies and have a radius of 3LY
  • If the owner of the guard zone has assigned guard fleets to a guard zone, those fleets will automatically attack any enemy fleet that enters the zone - excluding pirates (a fleet belonging to a player that doesn't have a treaty with the owner of a guard zone is considered an enemy)
  • Guard zones are visible to all players that have scanner coverage of the area they cover

Guard fleets

Activating guard mode

Guard Mode Activate.png

  • While in a guard zone, guard mode can be activated for a fleet via the fleet context menu (see image above)
  • Guard mode cannot be activated for fleets with no weapons or if the guard fleet control's guard fleet limit has been reached
  • After guard mode is activated the fleet will remain where it is until it starts to intercept an enemy fleet entering the guard zone or you order it to move elsewhere within the guard zone (ordering the fleet to leave the guard zone will cancel guard mode)

Guard mode is active

Guard Mode Activated.png

  • When guard mode is active for a fleet the fleet icon is highlighted
  • Status text also shows which colony is responsible for the guard zone the fleet is guarding

Cancelling guard mode

  • Guard mode can be cancelled for a fleet via the fleet context menu (see image above)
  • Ordering a fleet to move outside of a guard zone it's guarding will cancel guard mode (ordering a fleet to move within a guard zone will NOT cancel guard mode)
  • Giving a guard fleet a new order will also cancel guard mode

Interception behaviour

  • Guard fleets will automatically move to intercept enemy fleets entering the zone they're guarding
  • If an interception causes a guard fleet to leave the guard zone it will quickly break off the interception and return to orbit of the colony where the guard fleet control is

Overlapping Guard Zones

  • Guard zones may overlap each other but they do not merge into a single guard zone
  • Guard fleets will only intercept enemy fleets entering the guard zone they were assigned to
  • Enemy fleets entering an area of space covered by more than one guard zone could be intercepted by any of the guard fleets

Minelaying

  • It's not possible to lay a minefield if that minefield would overlap a guard zone

Research

  • Level 1 to 5 guard fleet control buildings can be unlocked by researching the relevant technology (see 'Research' in the table above)

Constructing and upgrading

  • Level 1 guard fleet control buildings can be constructed directly
  • Levels 2 to 5 are obtained by upgrading a lower level guard fleet control building e.g. a level 1 guard fleet control can be upgraded to level 2, but a level 2 guard fleet control cannot be built directly
