False Flag

From Outscape Wiki

Players can run false flag ops. While a fleet has 'false flag' activated other players cannot see its true owner:

  • The fleet counts as 3 fleets towards an empire's active fleet limit instead of 1
  • To all other players the fleet will be displayed as a pirate fleet (owner 'pirate' and coloured red) - even to players that have a treaty with its owner
  • Notifications concerning a false flag fleet will also display the owner as 'pirate'
  • In sensor range or battle the true ships are visible - so a player will be able to tell it's a false flag fleet, and from which civ the ships are, but they still won't know who the owner is
  • The owner's identity is only revealed if the fleet bombs or invades another player's colony (destroying a false flag fleet in battle or with a minefield will not reveal the owner's identity)

Usage

Enabling and disabling

  • False flag can be enabled/disabled for a fleet via the fleet's menu (see 'Fleet Owner' image below)
  • There is no resource cost to enable false flag, but the fleet will count as 3 fleets towards an empire's active fleet limit instead of 1
  • The fleet will be labelled 'pirate' for the owner while false flag is enabled
  • To all other players the fleet will be displayed as a pirate fleet (owner 'pirate' and coloured red) - even to players that have a treaty with its owner

When false flag is activated the fleet is renamed 'Pirate' for the owner

All other players will see the fleet/owner name as 'Pirate' (even players with a treaty)
