Auto-transfer Resources

From Outscape Wiki

Fleets can automatically transfer resources from a colony to either another colony or a jettison pod:

  • To order a fleet to 'Auto-transfer resources' somewhere it must be in orbit of the planet with the resources to be transferred
  • You set which resources to transfer, the rate at which they should be transferred and their priority
  • Natural resources can be transferred to colonies and jettison pods
  • Colonists and troops can also be transferred to colonies (not to jettison pods), but won't be transferred if doing so would create a labour shortage
  • At the moment you can only auto-transfer resources from one of your colonies. In a future version it will be possible to auto-transfer resources from an uncolonized planet or a jettison pod
  • If boosted warp is enabled and Olzine is selected for transfer, the amount you choose to transfer will determine how much Olzine is available for boosted warp travel
  • If boosted warp is enabled the fleet will automatically refill its Olzine from both the source and destination when it can - if it cannot collect enough Olzine it will continue the next leg of the journey at free warp speed

Usage

1. Move the fleet to orbit of the colony you want to transfer resources from and select it

2. With the fleet selected choose the colony/jettison pod you want to transfer resources to and choose the 'Auto-transfer resources' option

3. A settings panel will then open to enable you to configure the auto-transfer - click 'OK' to start auto-transfer

4. The fleet will then automatically collect resources from the source colony and transfer them to the destination continuously

Auto-transfer between star systems

The example above shows how to order a fleet to auto-transfer resources to a destination in the same system. But it's also possible to auto-transfer resources to a colony/jettison pod in a different system via the star map.

System To System 1.jpg

  1. Move the fleet to orbit of the colony you want to transfer resources from
  2. From the star map select the fleet by clicking on the system it's in and selecting it from the menu
  3. With the fleet selected click on the system with the colony/jettison pod you want to auto-transfer resources to
  4. Choose the 'Auto-transfer resources' menu option for the colony/jettison pod
  5. A settings panel will then open to enable you to configure the auto-transfer - click 'OK' to start auto-transfer

Choosing which resources to transfer

Even if the colony doesn't have a particular resource available at that moment it is still possible to select it to be transferred. It will then be automatically transferred if it does become available e.g. the planet starts mining that resource or a quantity of that resource arrives from elsewhere.

Transfer rate

  • Each resource to be transferred has a 'per hour' transfer rate set
  • For shorter journeys this may mean the fleet waits in orbit between journeys so as not to transfer too much
  • If the fleet can't achieve this transfer rate - e.g. the colony doesn't have much of that resource or the journey is long - it will transfer as much as it can

Prioritizing resources

  • Resources are prioritized by hourly transfer rate - the highest rate is the highest priority
  • Lower priority resources will only be transferred if the fleet can achieve the transfer rates of higher priority resources
  • For example:
    • A fleet with cargo space of 500 is ordered to auto-transfer 1,000/hr Beron and 900/hr Farsu
    • If the journey takes 2 minutes the fleet will be able to transfer both Beron and Farsu (2 journeys transferring 500 Beron at a time then 2 journeys transferring 500 Farsu and 400 Farsu)
    • But if the journey is long enough that the fleet is unable to deliver 1,000/hr of Beron no Farsu will get transferred

Fuel settings

  • Fleets with fuel tanks can auto-transfer Olzine
  • If boosted warp is not enabled the entire fuel tank capacity can be used for delivery
  • If boosted warp is enabled and Olzine is selected for transfer, the transfer rate will determine how much Olzine is available for boosted warp travel
    • The more Olzine you choose to transfer per hour will mean less Olzine available for boosted warp travel
    • If you choose a transfer rate higher than the fleet can carry it will not be possible to use boosted warp at all
  • If boosted warp is enabled the fleet will automatically refill its Olzine from both the source and destination when it can - if it cannot collect enough Olzine it will continue the next leg of the journey at free warp speed

Fleet behaviour

Waiting in orbit

  • If not enough resources are available at the source colony the fleet will wait in orbit until there are
  • The fleet will also wait in orbit of the source colony to not exceed the configured delivery rate

Delivering personnel

  • The fleet will adhere to the configured delivery rate unless doing so would cause a labour shortage on the source colony
  • On subsequent legs the fleet will check if it's safe to resume transferring personnel
